What do you enjoy most about teaching?
I enjoy being able to see students have their “a ha” moments. There is nothing like doing an experiment and having the students make connections to what they have read about and what they have seen in the lab.

Why did you choose to teach at Morgan Park Academy?
I initially came to MPA to teach summer school. I was lucky that a teaching position for computers opened up that fall and then even luckier that eventually a biology teaching position opened up. With a degree in medical biology, I was thrilled to have the opportunity to teach biology!

What motivated you to become a teacher?
My parents were teachers at the same school since they graduated from college. So, naturally, I thought I would never become a teacher! However, throughout my college career I was inspired by my advisor, who taught me in several anatomy classes. I was amazed at how he could make such difficult material so easy to understand. Many of his methods I employ in my own classroom today.
