What do you enjoy most about teaching?

My favorite part about being a teacher is the time that I get to spend with my students. Every day I have the privilege to come to Morgan Park Academy and interact with students who are going to do so many amazing things here and out in the world when they leave here.

What motivated you to become a teacher?

My path to becoming a teacher was very non-traditional. I was coaching junior varsity basketball and having a lot of fun with it, and I was hitting a wall with what I wanted to do in college. I thought, “Why not teach?” I thought about it for about a year and I came to the conclusion that bridging my love for history, sports, and kids together would make for an awesome career. It was a great decision.

What are some of your interests and hobbies?

My hobbies include playing sports like basketball and golf. Most of my interests include anything related to history and learning about history. I collect movies from all different genres and I especially like superhero movies. I try to keep up with my artistic passions as well and do some drawings every once in a while.

Lastly, I really enjoy traveling and over the past few years have visited some pretty amazing cities. I love going to live sporting events; recent highlights have included seeing the University of Kentucky Wildcats at Rupp Arena in Lexington and watching Notre Dame live in South Bend. I look forward to traveling to other great sports cities and taking in a game.
