Girls Basketball Captures Hard-Won Regional Championship

2020-03-02T12:12:34-06:00

The job had been hard — fought by some of them over the course of four or five long years — and when it was finally accomplished, all the emotion poured out. They hugged each other and spun giddy in circles at midcourt, bouncing in exuberant celebration -- teammates and sisters and teammates who had become like sisters. Next to the home bench, two longtime coaching partners embraced. The goal that had been tantalizingly out of reach was finally at hand. Morgan Park Academy's varsity girls are regional basketball champions once more — for the seventh time in the past 13 [...]

By Tim O’Brien The Beverly Review Kaitlyn Mullings wasn’t focusing too much on the festivities for Senior Night on Jan. 31 at Morgan Park Academy (MPA). Instead, the senior forward was thinking about her teammates and their season goals, especially with the playoffs approaching. 2020-02-05T15:55:49-06:00

By Tim O’Brien The Beverly Review When Sheridan Harris made her varsity debut for Morgan Park Academy in November, the 5’7” guard was far from a typical freshman. So, Sheridan felt some nerves before her varsity debut, but those also included excitement. “I’d been watching the varsity play a long time because of my sister,” Sheridan said. “I knew everyone on the team, so it was the nerves of playing my first high school game, but the [...]
