Science Teacher Receives Outstanding Educator Award

For the third time in seven years, a member of the Morgan Park Academy faculty has received the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award for excellence in teaching and mentorship. Lynsey Panek, who teaches high school chemistry and human anatomy, was recognized for this national award after being nominated by Charles Hendon, a University of Chicago freshman who graduated from MPA last spring. Coach Pariso Announces Plans to Retire

Physical education teacher Lynda Pariso has announced that she plans to retire in June 2021 after 41 years at Morgan Park Academy, bringing to a close a teaching and coaching career that touched the lives of generations of children. A native of Northwest Indiana, Pariso joined the faculty in 1979, quickly establishing herself as an indispensable and indelible teacher and coach. Over the course of her career, she taught P.E. classes for all ages, led P.E. curriculum development, and coached several sports. Coach Oczkowski Announces Plans to Retire

Physical education teacher Susan Oczkowski has announced that she plans to retire this June after 44 years at Morgan Park Academy, bringing to a close a teaching career that touched the lives of generations of children and helped instill in them the value of lifelong physical fitness. A Chicago native who grew up a few miles from the Academy, Oczkowski joined the faculty in 1975, fresh out of Quincy College. In addition to the professional development days held on campus, our faculty members attend regional and national workshops and conferences — and then they come back and share with their MPA colleagues what they learned.
