Morgan Park Academy's WYSE (Worldwide Youth in Science and Engineering) team began its postseason push with a strong performance at regionals, finishing third among schools with 1,500 or fewer students at the University of St. Francis on Feb. 2.
Home from college for winter break, MPA young alumni visited campus Jan. 8 to talk with Upper School students about what to expect and how to succeed in college, from admissions and academics to dorm life and living away from home.
Morgan Park Academy will host Mike Moyer for a seminar on college admissions, “Better is Boring,” on Sunday, January 14, 2018, at 1:00 p.m. Based on his book How to Make Colleges Want You, Moyer’s talk will give students and parents a look at what goes on behind the scenes in the college admissions department and reveal the keys to improving admissions odds for students at all levels of achievement.
For the second time in three years, a member of the Morgan Park Academy faculty has received the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award for excellence in teaching and mentorship. Derek Smith, who teaches English and social studies in the Upper School, was recognized for this national award after being nominated by MPA alumna Aariel Batchelor.
