We were pleased to honor David Honor ’67 with our highest honor for Morgan Park Academy alumni, the Richard L. Duchossois ’40 Integrity and Values Alumni Award, at our 153rd graduation exercises on June 6, 2026.

A veteran Chicago photographer, Honor has been a creative force in the Midwest for over five decades. With a professional career that has spanned photojournalism, advertising, packaging, and fine art, Honor constantly rediscovers his passion for fresh imagery by keeping one step ahead of today’s ever-changing technology and redefining his vision.

MORE STORIES — COMMENCEMENT 2026

A world traveler for newspaper and magazine clients, Honor has shot his way through the British Isles and Europe over to North Africa and back again through the Caribbean and Mexico. His talent and experience landed him at the prestigious Leo Burnett Agency as the in-house photographer for major clients including Marlboro, Johnny Walker, United Airlines, Allstate Insurance, and Disney. The full client list is long, varied, and exciting.

At Leo Burnett, Honor began working with the new digital format and computer graphics. In the early ’90s he was dedicated to the freedom that Photoshop and digital files gave him from photo retouchers and labs. By the millennium, Honor was firmly invested in the digital age and the new expanding creative horizons.

His quest for compelling imagery goes well beyond the camera and becomes much more personal in his vision of people, places, and all that inhabit our world. His keen eye for seeing beauty and character, combined with his mastery of image post-production, allows him to capture images, especially of people, that illustrate the soul and heart of the subject and not just their appearance.

As a Morgan Park Academy alumnus, Honor has spent the past 18 years documenting the school, students, and staff, creating a lasting archive of personalities, individuals, and campus life. This journey within MPA has become his true passion: to photograph students as they progress through their time on campus. Not posed, not directed, but images that illustrate them as they really are.

The award is named for the late Richard L. Duchossois ’40, founder and chairman of The Duchossois Group, Inc., and is given annually as the Academy’s highest alumni honor in recognition of his lifetime achievements, professional success, and service to our school, community, and society.
