Twenty percent of Morgan Park Academy’s teachers received nominations. The nominees represent the school’s grade levels from PreK through 12th grade and share a combined total of more than 150 years of teaching experience.
“We couldn’t be prouder of these tremendous educators — and every member of our award-winning faculty,” said Head of School Phyllis Cavallone-Jurek, Ed.D. “Our faculty from PreK through 12th grade is a wonderfully diverse team of professionals who are committed to discovering the key to each student’s talents and abilities, and to helping each grow in character, intellect, and confidence.”
Award application materials for all nominees will be evaluated by an ISBE selection committee composed of individuals who represent a variety of educational organizations, with awardees honored at an annual banquet next spring.
QUOTES FROM THE NOMINEES

Marymargaret Coakley — Middle & Upper School social studies teacher and Assistant Director of Athletics
“I really feel like MPA is a second home to me. I enjoy every day that I have the opportunity to teach here. The faculty, administration, staff, and students make MPA feel like a home and not a job. I have always wanted to be an educator and have always wanted to find the place that would challenge me to be the best possible teacher I could be, and MPA is that place for me. I am constantly inspired to be better and do better, and I always strive to inspire others to do the same.”
