Morgan Park Academy is honored to announce a generous anonymous donation that will enhance the school’s athletics programs and establish a scholarship in memory of beloved former teacher, coach, and athletics director Andy Bitta.

The Andy Bitta Scholarship will be a renewable award recognizing student leadership and academic excellence. Beginning in early 2026, eligible MPA eighth-graders may apply for the $5,000 scholarship, which can be renewed annually through their Upper School years and up to four years. With continued eligibility, a recipient could receive up to $20,000 in total scholarship throughout high school.

This donation also will help fund new athletics equipment and entryway renovations for the MPA fieldhouse, home of Andrew S. Bitta Gymnasium.

“Coach Bitta’s leadership had a lasting influence on the Academy,” said Kristy Kotek, Vice President of Advancement and Community Relations. “We are grateful to the donor for honoring his legacy in such a meaningful way and for supporting future Warriors who exemplify academic excellence and active leadership on campus.”

The Andy Bitta Scholarship celebrates the spirit of dedication, teamwork, and character that defined Coach Bitta’s tenure at Morgan Park Academy. These are the values that continue to inspire students, coaches, and alumni alike.

Morgan Park Academy welcomes additional donors interested in expanding scholarship opportunities to benefit even more students. For information about supporting this initiative, please contact Kristy Kotek at kkotek@morganparkacademy.org.
