Tiara hit another scoring milestone Dec. 4, 2024, as varsity girls basketball continued their undefeated start to the season, becoming the 19th MPA basketball player to surpass 1,000 career points — and by far the youngest.
The sophomore guard, a second-team All-State selection last year, is already at 1,023 points a few games into her sophomore season, with a career average of 28.4 points per game. No other MPA player, boys or girls, reached the milestone before junior year.
Tiara scored 881 points last season, which put her among the state’s top scorers (and 3-point shooters) and was a whopping 44% more than the program’s previous scoring record (611 points). She is already more than halfway to the MPA girls’ career scoring record of 1,705 points.
Led also by Anna, Cece, Madison, Alana, and Zulema, the Warriors (5-0) are ranked 10th in IHSA Class 1A in this week’s Associated Press poll, regaining a spot they previously held two years ago.
Last season, their first in a new conference, Coach Drahozal’s team went 26-5, setting a school record for wins, and won the program’s 10th regional championship.
“We want to go undefeated this season. That’s the goal,” Tiara told the Beverly Review last week. “Our chemistry on this team, most everyone played last year. We know how to play. It’s about getting closer, getting stronger, and even better.”
