Upper School Science Teacher

Mr. Villanueva holds a Master of Science degree in analytical chemistry and is completing a second M.S. in computer science. He also spent several years in teaching and independent research at the college level. Beyond chemistry, he also works on 3D modeling and 3D printer design.

What do you enjoy most about teaching?

What I love most about teaching is the chance to really make a difference. It’s about helping students figure things out and helping to shape their futures in a positive way. That connection and seeing their progress is what keeps me going.

How do you keep current with the subject areas you cover?

I continually deepen my expertise in chemistry by teaching advanced courses at local colleges, which requires staying up to date on current research and developments. I also actively follow recent studies and breakthroughs in the field to keep my classes informed and engaged.

What are some of your interests and hobbies?

I enjoy a variety of hands-on activities that allow me to be self-sufficient and creative. From tinkering with cars and electronics to exploring computer technology through 3D printing and graphic modeling, I love diving into projects that challenge me and expand my skills in practical areas.

What motivated you to become a teacher?

My journey into teaching was sparked by my passion for sharing knowledge and a personal goal to enhance my public speaking skills. I saw teaching as a mutually beneficial experience, where I could disseminate my understanding of various subjects while honing my ability to communicate effectively and articulate complex ideas clearly.
