Freshman setter Cece Drown had 8 assists and 3 service aces as the MPA varsity girls volleyball team defeated Intrinsic Charter 25-10, 25-13 on Aug. 30.
Drown set the tone quickly in the first set with a service run that featured 3 aces and 2 kills from Anna Sheppard.
“I’m looking at the court and where I want to go before I serve,” Drown said. “I have my routine, spin the ball and just go. I don’t want to think about [the crowd] too much. It felt super good. All your teammates on the court and on the bench, the fans in the bleachers, they’re all supporting you. The other team is looking at you crazy and trying to get you off your game. I like to prove those people wrong.”
