Upper School students had a strong showing at the annual Business Professionals of America state conference on Feb. 24, 2022, including three medalists who qualified to participate in this spring’s national leadership conference.

BPA is a national co-curricular organization for students pursuing business-related career fields, hosting competitions in finance; business administration; management, marketing, and communications; digital communication and design; management information systems; and health administration.

Competing against schools of all sizes from throughout Illinois were MPA seniors Tiffany Chen, Jackson Glanton, Dylan Hagan, D’Jaquan King, Lydia Liu, and Merlin Mo; juniors Christian Cunningham, Selena Eng, Sheridan Harris, Rianna Kingra, Marie Norkett, Arnav Paluri, and Nora Perry; and freshmen Walter Lopez and David Perry.

Three state medalists qualified for nationals in Dallas this May:

– Nora, first in desktop publishing;
– Merlin, second in banking and finance; and
– Christian, fourth in computer security.

“I’m so pleased for all of our students,” faculty advisor Meg Carey said. “Many of them took the opportunity to challenge themselves with a competitive event that is just a bit outside of their regular comfort zones. This is how we grow!”
