Kaitlyn Mullings closed her MPA basketball career with a flourish, advancing through regional and sectional competitions to place second in IHSA Class 1A in the 3-point shootout on Feb. 28, 2020.

In the finals at Illinois State University, the senior forward hit 9 of 15 to become one of four shooters in the championship round, where she nailed eight 3-pointers to tie for first place. Illini Central’s Kyndel Arthalony won the tiebreaker round.

Mullings is the first MPA basketball player, boy or girl, to advance to the championship round of the state 3-point shootout.

She and teammate Sheridan Harris also received All-State honorable mention by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.

This marks the third straight year that coach Tom Drahozal’s program has had an All-State player, following third-team honors and special mention, respectively, for Amaya McLachlan (2019) and Isis Rodriguez (2018), the program’s top two career scorers.

The Warriors captured a program-record 22 wins and their seventh regional championship this season. They have a .685 winning percentage since 2009.
