MPA girls basketball coach Tom Drahozal was recognized by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association following a record 2019-2020 season, earning District 3 Coach of the Year honors for the fourth time in his career.

Drahozal, who led the Warriors to their seventh regional championship and a program-record 22 wins, was one of 21 girls basketball coaches honored at the state’s Class 1A/2A level.

A member of Morgan Park Academy’s Athletic Hall of Fame, Drahozal has led the varsity girls basketball program since 1994, compiling 383 wins in 26 seasons. His career total of 489 wins also includes seven years with the varsity boys.

His varsity girls teams have a .687 winning percentage since 2009, including a program-best run of 20-plus victories in each of the past three seasons.

Drahozal also was IBCA District 3 Coach of the Year in 2010, 2012, and 2013.
