Morgan Park Academy seniors caught the eye of schools such as Butler University, Michigan State University, Marquette University, Indiana University, University of Wisconsin, and Knox College at a recent downtown college admissions forum, earning early offers of admission as part of the Chicago Scholars program.

Students pre-selected up to five schools with whom they would interview at the Oct. 27 event. They had submitted application materials to these schools by mid-September, allowing admission officers time to review their applications prior to the interviews, which were held in person and virtually.

During the event, 11 MPA seniors engaged in more than 50 college interviews with admission officers from schools such as Harvard University, Duke University, Northwestern University, University of Chicago, Emory University, Vanderbilt University, Carnegie Mellon University, and Morehouse College, all of which typically do not interview students for admission.

Students received 10 admission offers on the spot. Some also received notice of scholarships totaling $270,000.

Students will hear about many other admission decisions in the coming days and months.
