Upper School semester examinations are scheduled for Monday, December 16 through Wednesday, December 18, 2019, according to the schedule below.
Regular classes for Upper School students will not be held during the three days of examinations. Students will not need to wear their uniforms on exam days. They may wear casual clothing. We ask that all students and parents familiarize themselves with the semester examination schedule and with all of the information included below. Please note that all students are expected to complete their examinations before the semester break and family vacations should be taken after examination week.

Upper School Exam Times
Morning examinations will begin at 8:15 a.m.; afternoon examinations will begin at 12:30 p.m. Students are required to remain in the examination room for a minimum of two hours; 2-1/2 hours will be the maximum time.
End of Marking Period Procedures
The second quarter ends on Friday, December 13. This day is designated as a review day for all students and students will follow a regular schedule of classes. Semester exams will take place on December 16-18, per the exam schedule.
Academic Assistance
During examination days, Upper School students need to report to school for examinations only. However, academic assistance will be available at the times indicated on the examination schedule, or by appointment with the teacher.
Lunch During Exam Week
Lunch will be available at 11:15 a.m. on examination days for Upper School students who are registered for the lunch program. Students who are not registered in the lunch program, must sign up in the Upper School Office by Thursday, December 12 if they plan to eat lunch in the Dining Hall. Please note that bag lunches may be eaten in the student lounges, but no food is to be eaten or carried into other areas of Hansen Hall. Open campus lunch is available for all students during exam days.
Illness During Exam Week
If a student must miss an examination due to illness, the parent should report the absence to the attendance line at (773) 881-6700 ext. 280. The student is responsible for arranging for an alternate examination time within the established schedule (see make-up exam procedures below).
Make-Up Exam Procedures
If a student misses any semester or final examination for reasons other than illness or emergency, a charge of $50 per exam will be levied for each makeup examination. Please note that Wednesday, December 18 (from 12:30-3:00 p.m.) and Thursday, December 19, have been designated as the time for make-up examinations. Students who cannot make up their exams by this date will need to take their exams when classes resume in January.
