A year after her former teammate became the top scorer in MPA girls basketball history, senior forward Amaya McLachlan rewrote the record books again, breaking the season record with 611 points to finish her career second on the program’s all-time scoring list.
McLachlan broke the season record of 569 points set last year by Isis Rodriguez; her 1,350 career points are second only to Rodriguez’s daunting total of 1,705.
McLachlan and fellow all-ISL honorees Kaitlyn Mullings and Samaria Harris led the varsity girls to 21 wins — tying the program record set last year — and a berth in the Class 1A regional finals.
McLachlan was named third-team All-State by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association, joining Rodriguez and 2011 graduate Kierra Morris as recent Warriors to earn all-state honors. She also reached the state finals of the 3-point contest, placing among the top 32 shooters in Class 1A.
