Four Morgan Park Academy students were among 13 local eighth-graders chosen to participate in the annual student leadership breakfast hosted at the Academy by Alderman Matt O’Shea, State Senator Bill Cunningham, and State Representative Fran Hurley on May 4.

Celia Echols, Faiz Hashmi, D’J. King, and Hannah Sipich were selected by Middle School faculty for this honor. While all four students hold traditional leadership roles in their class, they also lead by example as positive, enthusiastic contributors to the MPA community.
After a welcome by Ald. O’Shea and Rep. Hurley, the students worked in groups to debate several bills currently in the state legislature and present their positions to family, friends, and teachers in attendance.

“Each year, we are honored to host these local student leaders and their families,” Middle School principal Heather Kurut said. “As Alderman O’Shea pointed out, Morgan Park Academy is an integral part of the Beverly community with a rich history. We are glad to share our campus to celebrate the accomplishments of these rising high school leaders.”
