Middle School student Lauren R. placed 3rd and earned a $20,000 college scholarship in the national entrepreneurship competition Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) on May 5. She competed against students from all over the country. The product Lauren developed is an app for people with food allergies. She and her sister both have food allergies and her app allows users to search for foods that are safe, rather than sort through individual foods for ingredients. She first began thinking of an idea for YEA! when she read about the program in 4th grade. However, the year-long program is only open to students in grades 6-12. Lauren entered the first chance she could!
Lauren R. was named the regional Young Entrepreneurs Academy (YEA!) winner in April.
