So, the Morgan Park Academy (MPA) senior started thinking outside the box. MPA Teacher Receives University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award


For the second time in three years, a member of the Morgan Park Academy faculty has received the University of Chicago Outstanding Educator Award for excellence in teaching and mentorship. Derek Smith, who teaches English and Social Studies in the Upper School, was recognized for this national award after being nominated by Aariel Batchelor, a University of Chicago freshman who graduated from MPA last spring. 8 Seniors Named Illinois State Scholars


Morgan Park Academy seniors Lisa Chen, Abigail Herman, Emma Huang, Olivia Kamin, Grace Lei, Sabrina Rathi, David Valentine, and Adam Wu have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement, named 2018-19 State Scholars by the Illinois Student Assistance Commission. About 10 percent of Illinois high school seniors are selected each year as State Scholars based on exemplary ACT or SAT scores and/or class rank at the end of the junior year. Senior Guard Breaks MPA Girls Basketball Career Scoring Record


Senior guard Isis Rodriguez became the top scorer in the history of Morgan Park Academy’s varsity girls basketball program, passing Lopa Pandya’s record of 1,273 points on Dec. 2, 2017, against Elgin Academy.
