Seniors Earn Admission Offers at Chicago Scholars Event


Morgan Park Academy seniors caught the eye of schools such as Butler University, Knox College, Loyola University Chicago, University of Minnesota, and Northern Illinois University at a recent downtown college admissions forum, earning early offers of admission as part of the Chicago Scholars program. Students pre-selected up to five schools with whom they would interview at the Oct. 24 event. They had submitted application materials to these schools by mid-September, allowing admission officers time to review their applications prior to the on-site interviews. Celebrating Diwali, the Hindu Festival of Lights


We celebrated the Hindu festival of Diwali with a program featuring music, dance, student presentations, and a fashion show about styles of dress in the many various regions where Diwali is celebrated.  Thank you to the Diversity Council and to the Parents Association volunteers who provided such delicious samosas at lunch! Giving Back on Service Day

MPA Seniors Recognized by National Merit Scholarship Program


Four MPA seniors earned recognition from the National Merit Scholarship Program by scoring in the top 3 percent of the 1.6 million students nationwide who took the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test last year. Katarina Stanley and David Valentine were named 2018 National Merit Semifinalists after placing in the top 1 percent of high scorers, while classmates Theo Covello and Abigail Herman received National Merit Commendation. The National Merit Scholarship Program is an academic competition for recognition and scholarships that began in 1955.
