Morgan Park Academy’s campus is looking even more colorful these days with the completion of large new bricolage mosaic murals in Barker Hall and the Arts Center.
Students of all ages designed and assembled the murals over the course of several months last year, with guidance from art teachers Pat Egan and Meg Simmerling Faeh and visiting artists from the Green Star Movement community art organization.
Two colorful murals in Barker Hall brighten the hallway outside our first-floor Lower School classrooms, while the large mural in our Arts Center lobby features imagery representing art, music, and drama.
MPA families whose donations helped support this project are recognized with personalized tiles within the mosaics.
“It’s wonderful to have these new murals to further enhance the beauty of our campus,” Director of the Arts Peggy Bergin said. “Our students really enjoyed the project and learned a lot. We hope everyone will stop by to see their work the next time they’re on campus!”
