Upper School students in Mr. Ellis’ Foundations of Music classes got a behind-the-scenes look at a career in the music industry during a recent visit by guest speaker Ed Wimp ’08.
Ed is a musician, artist manager, and music business consultant who has worked on tour with R&B legends Earth, Wind & Fire and chart-topping rapper A$AP Rocky and was a panelist at the Collegiate Entrepreneurs’ Organization‘s national conference last fall.
Students learned about building a career and managing artists in the music industry, from marketing and personal branding to the various and ever-evolving ways that today’s musicians can get paid for their work.
“It was exciting to welcome Ed back to campus,” Mr. Ellis said. “He and the students had a great dialogue, and with his professional experience, he was able to provide real-world examples of a lot of issues we had been discussing in class.”
