Sixth-Graders Exhibit History Fair Projects at State Expo

Sixth-graders India Lopez and Devin Otto rode their outstanding Chicago Metro History Fair projects all the way to Springfield, advancing to the State Expo at the Prairie Convention Center this month. MPA sixth-graders participate each year in this popular and challenging competition, researching and presenting their first long-form research project. The three-part project is an important lesson in learning to manage the process of large assignments. Besides creating their museum-like exhibits, students completed summary statements and annotated bibliographies. Wellness Walk Participants Rack Up the Miles

When the last pair of sneakers had been put away (for now) and the last number had been crunched, the final total was pretty eye-popping: The Morgan Park Academy community walked, jogged, and ran a combined 18,200 miles during our Wellness Walk fitness challenge this school year. That's three-quarters of the way around the world!   MPA students, families, alumni, faculty, and staff counted their mileage from September to May, with the faculty and staff team leading the way with 6,371 miles. MPA family members totaled 3,757 miles, and Middle School students placed third in the team standings with 2,433 miles. [...]

Jack Anderson, Adil Mian, and Analiese Sori took home team MVP awards as we honored the best of the spring sports season with a varsity and junior varsity awards banquet on May 26. Analiese, Isis Rodriguez, and Breeanna Schmidt were recognized as all-ISL players. Adopt a Bed in the MPA Garden!

Have a green thumb -- or want to develop one? Adopt a bed in our school garden this summer!   Families and friends of MPA are invited to join this new school program, which will run through the June-to-October planting season. Each participant (or group) will be assigned one large bed or two small square beds on a first-come, first-served basis. If you want to find a partner family to share with, that is totally fine.
