College Counselor

Morgan Park Academy is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of College Counselor beginning September, 2014. Founded in 1873, Morgan Park Academy is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school in Chicago dedicated to preparing students to pursue the highest levels of educational excellence with an emphasis on independent thinking and global leadership. 

Candidates should have, as a minimum, a Bachelor’s degree and three years of experience as a high school college counselor. Work in an independent school setting is preferred.

Ideal candidates will have the ability to work well in a rigorous environment, and counsel students and parents on the college application process, with a high degree of professionalism, integrity and energy. Responsibilities include working with both students and parents on the college application process, interacting and network building with college admissions representatives, traveling occasionally to various colleges and professional conferences, preparing secondary school reports including the school profile and college recommendation letters, coordinating PSAT, SAT, ACT, and AP examinations, presenting dynamic and informative college counseling sessions, and helping students create and manage their portfolios of extracurricular, community service, and summer programming.

Middle and Upper School Art Teacher

Morgan Park Academy is currently accepting applications for an experienced, middle and high school art teacher for the 2014 - 2015 school year. Qualified candidates will have 3 or more years of experience teaching art; willingness to work in a collegial manner with faculty, staff, and parents; experience  teaching across various grade levels; demonstrated success in working with students across different grade levels; Bachelor's degree and certification required; Master's degree preferred; engaging, innovative approach to teaching; mastery of creative and diverse methods of teaching, learning and assessment; experience with developing curriculum; ability to work collaboratively; demonstrated talent to create a positive nurturing environment for students.  

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree and certification; Master's degree in Education preferred

• Minimum 3-5 years teaching art Responsibilities:

• Instruct and assess students in a supportive manner that addresses multiple learning styles

• Integrate technology into the classroom

• Communicate student progress to parents and students

• Maintain classroom web page

• Participate in professional development opportunities

• Serve as an advisor to students

• Develop and lead co-curricular activities for students

French Teacher

Morgan Park Academy has an opening for a full-time French Teacher to join our World Language team for the 2014-2015 school year. Founded in 1873, Morgan Park Academy is a co-educational, college preparatory, independent day school in Chicago dedicated to preparing students to pursue the highest levels of educational excellence with an emphasis on independent thinking and global leadership.

Qualifications will include more than 3 years of classroom teaching experience, willingness to work in a cooperative and collegial manner with faculty, staff, and parents; potential to teach across various grade levels; demonstrated success in working with students across different grade levels; Bachelor's or advanced degree; engaging, innovative approach to language teaching; mastery of creative and diverse methods of teaching, learning and assessment; experience with developing curriculum; ability to work collaboratively in a school-wide department; willingness to chaperone exchange trips; familiarity with current best practices in middle school and high school second-language education, demonstrated talent to create a positive nurturing environment for students. 

Minimum Qualifications and Experience

• Bachelor's degree in French; Master's degree in teaching Second Languages preferred

• Fluent in French; either as a native-speaker or through advanced coursework and experience

• Experience teaching upper school students in advanced level AP French courses

• Minimum three years effective classroom teaching experience across multiple grade levels

Qualified candidates will have 3 or more years of experience teaching English, social studies and economics; willingness to work in a collegial manner with faculty, staff, and parents; experience teaching across various grade levels; demonstrated success in working with students across different grade levels; Bachelor's degree and certification required; Master's degree preferred; engaging, innovative approach to teaching; mastery of creative and diverse methods of teaching, learning and assessment; experience with developing curriculum; ability to work collaboratively; demonstrated talent to create a positive nurturing environment for students.

Substitute Teacher

All grades. Certification and 3-5 years teaching experience preferred.

Internships

We frequently have internship opportunities for students interested in marketing or communications. You will learn how to communicate with multiple audiences, as well as learn about school marketing and admissions processes. It is also especially valuable for someone interested in working at a not-for-profit organization. It is unpaid.
