Opportunities for Students to Discover and Explore Their Passions Abound at Morgan Park Academy

CHICAGO, IL, March 9, 2010 – Morgan Park Academy, a leading independent Pre-K-12th Grade educational institution, has announced registration is now open (www.morganparkacademy.org) for its much sought-after Summer Camp Programs. These world-class summer programs are available to current students, as well as students who do not attend the Academy.

Morgan Park Academy is a 137-year old school committed to supporting and promoting an educational environment where children become independent thinkers and ultimately, global leaders. The Academy’s summer program is an extension of the school’s focus on rigorous academic standards, which stretch the imagination and intelligence of student participants to prepare them for college scholarship and lifelong learning.

This year, Morgan Park Academy will offer summer programs for children in Preschool through Grade 12. Campers will be able to choose from a variety of educational portals that allow students to create a custom experience specific to their talent and interests. Academic enrichment, the fine arts, foreign language immersion, recreation and sports are just a few of the program portals available. Specifically, students can explore:


•    The Enrichment Portal
Designed for students entering Grades one through nine who would like to explore an area of curiosity or interest. Some of the enrichment classes offered are Life in Medieval Times, Art Around the World, Me-ology, and Hogwarts School of Witchcraft. Back by popular demand are Mindstorm Robotics, and Books and Cooks.

•    The Academic Portal
The portal provides academic instruction for students entering preschool through Grade nine. This portal helps strengthen and further enrich students’ academic skills.  Students will benefit from intensive, individualized courses that focus on acquiring specific academic knowledge and skills. Classes include: Reading, Writing and Math, Middle School Math and English, and High School Preparatory English.

•    Tennis Camp, and the Recreation and Sports Portal
Tennis Camp, and the Recreation and Sports Portal are a great way to enhance both physical and mental skills while having fun. Combine with Enrichment or Academic Portals to create a full day. The Sports Portal offers students the option of baseball, soccer, basketball, or tennis.

•    High School Portal

Here is a great way for students to get a head start academically. Credit courses are offered in the areas of mathematics, physical education, health and wellness, and computers. Other popular classes include We Are What We Eat, Spanish Enrichment, Another popular choice for high school students is the Drivers’ Education program.


Camps are available in three, two-week sessions, beginning June 28 through August 6. Students can be registered for one or all sessions depending on needs and interests. Early drop-off and after-care programs provide the convenience of extended care. Camps fill up quickly and space is limited, so early registration is recommended.
